Hola everyone!
It has been awhile since I’ve added new content… I’ve had some major life changes in the past few months, but it’s time to get back at it!
If you have never lived in St. Louis, the good certainly out-weighs the bad, regardless of what Chicago Cubs fans and Kansas Citians will try to make you believe. But, I’m also an optimist, so I haven’t met a city yet that I can’t find some good in…

As promised, I’ve made a list of things I definitely haven’t missed since I moved away from St. Louis.
1. St. Louis traffic
It really doesn’t matter what time of day it is, doesn’t matter where you are driving, if there’s not bumper-to-bumper traffic there will be some idiot driving over the line or cutting you off (because, what’s a blinker?).

2. “What high school did you go to?”
Basically saying, “I need to know what kind of education your parents put you through so I can stereotype you and decide if I like you and we can be friends or not.” I can’t tell you the number of times people gave me confused looks because I told them “Mountain Home High School” and they had NO clue what kind of stereotypes to assign to me.
I will say, according to the Riverfront Times high school chart, I probably would’ve gone to Fox or Westminster Christian School- depending on if I decided to go to a Christian school or not.
However annoying this St. Louis-area habit is, it is the inspiration for a wonderful St. Louis Tumblr, What High School Should We Call Me (WHSSWCM), filled with tons of St. Louis inside jokes that even outsiders can chuckle at.
3. Cliques
It’s all great and all that you’re still best friends with everyone you were friends with in “grade school” (whatever that is) or even high school, but haven’t you ever heard that song… Make New Friends and Keep the Old?
It’s a real thing, and it’s really NOT BAD to hang out with new people, or even intermingle new people *gasp* with all your old people.
It’s cool, it’s hip, it’s fun.
4. Bad service
This doesn’t go out to all the places in St. Louis I’ve been, OBVIOUSLY, I give credit where credit is due. However, in general, it was surprising to have good service somewhere in St. Louis.
I’ve done customer service.
I’ve waitressed, I’ve done retail, I’ve bartended, I’ve worked in a call-in customer service center.
I’m always nice to people in these type of positions. Ask anyone, some would say I’m too nice.
If you’re having bad day, suck it up.
It’s your job to be nice.
5. The ego
Lots of cities think they are great cities. Lots of cities are great cities. St. Louis is a great city. St. Louis is not THE GREATEST CITY EVER. Period.
According to Bloomberg Businessweek…
it’s actually ranked 47th in the US… St. Louis.
6. The amount of Ed Hardy and Affliction tees
(and cargo shorts/pants– do I need to make a separate bullet point for this?)
I think this is self-explanatory.
(If not, I am happy to personally lay this one out for you.)
There might be more things that bug me about St. Louis, but these are the big ones.
If you find this blog post offensive, please cheer yourself up by checking out this one.
Thanks for reading! Until next time, adios, ciao, sayonara, good-bye!
