Nebraska Nebraska I love youuu. You and I.

Hey there travelers. It’s been awhile.

Did you check out my post about Lincoln, Nebraska back in July? Well, I’m about to tell you about my trip there, and how much of that list of 101 things to do I actually accomplished.

My best friend, M, moved to Lincoln after a miserable year in Stillwater, OK. I can’t attest to the lack of fun things to do in Stillwater because I’ve never been, but I like to think it’s exactly how it looks “Stillwater, OK.” It’s just OK. That’s a question for M, and maybe I’ll let you ask her some day. However, I can tell you that Lincoln has a lot to offer for a flat, rural college town.

So, how much of my list did I accomplish during my weekend trip to Lincoln this summer?

3.

I accomplished 3 in one weekend,

and I’m pretty proud of that.

So about my trip! Friday afternoon I headed north from Kansas City, excited for the birthday surprise M had planned for me.

To my delight, M and I grabbed some Cane’s fried chicken and headed to Pinewood Bowl for a Sara Bareilles concert (#28)!

I’ve been to a lot of concerts, but Pinewood Bowl was one of the coolest venues I’ve ever been to, and Sara’s Little Black Dress tour was phenomenal. If you’ve never seen her in concert, I highly recommend it.

M and I met some really interesting friends at the concert and ended up grabbing a late night breakfast with them before turning in for the night.

The next morning, well to be truly honest, morning to M and I is late late morning. We grabbed the most wonderful breakfast at Engine House Cafe (#88) in the Havelock neighborhood. Not only was the food delicious, but our service was wonderful. Any service that warns me of things that might cause dietary issues is good in my book.

It’s not easy being un-cheesy.

M and I spent the rest of the day wandering around the Haymarket area of Lincoln, and even checking out some of the local vendors at the farmer’s market (#27).

M, how was that bacon you bought for BLTs? It looked amazing.

I know it’s not a Lincoln-specific place, but I was thrilled to check out Rocket Fizz and have my thirst quenched by a unique and delectable root beer. Check it out. If you like candy and soda (which who doesn’t!?), it’s rockin.

Brownie root beer. Yum. Not for the faint of root beer fandom.

We then transitioned to real beer at a little Irish bar, but when we decided we weren’t feeling bangers and mash, we moved up the street to Vincenzo’s. All I have to say about this place is GO NOW.

Holy pasta!

Believe it or not, we still felt that we needed to finish off our night so (if I remember correctly) we hit up Barry’s for some rooftop fresh air and libations.

M and I made the most of my weekend in Lincoln, and its definitely some place I can tolerate visiting. 😉 This sunset alone would bring me back…

If anything is true about the flyover states of America. They make the best sunsets.

Thanks for reading! Until next time, adios, ciao, sayonara, good-bye!
